Bedside manner...

I've just spent an hour and a half getting a guy stable in the CCU so quick post, but quick aside....do not do i.v. drugs or you make my life very difficult and yours much shorter.

This is another story from our retired physician:

I once had a patient who came in with acute cholecystitis who needed her gallbladder out.  The surgeon at our hospital was not known for being the most understanding of individuals.  As it turns out, the patient's sister had a massive stroke and she was over 1000 miles away.  The patient wished to delay the surgery so she could go see her sister.

Patient:  "Oh, doctor, my sister has had a stroke.  I need to go see her."

Surgeon:  "What the hell does that have to do with your gallbladder?"

She fired him about 10 seconds later.
