The following scenario happens about three times a month:
Me: "We'll probably be discharging her tomorrow, I think she's stable enough."
Family: "I'm not sure she's ready to go."
Me: "The longer she stays here, the more likely she is to get a pneumonia."
Next Day:
Family: "We think she needs physical therapy."
Next Day:
Family: "Have you seen this mole on her back?"
Next Day:
Family: "Oh, we don't have the house ready for her."
Next Day:
Me: "It looks like she's developed a pneumonia. She'll have to stay here on IV antibiotics for awhile."
Family: "You should clean this place better, I can't believe that you gave her a pneumonia."
