Word salad is an interesting phenomenon (look it up, I'm not your attending) where the speaker mixes words up in what they think is a coherent sentence, but it comes out all jumbled. It's brain stuff, like echolalia.
Me: "How is she doing today?"
Family: "Better, but still a little off."
Patient: "I'm doing peanut brittle spider monkey."
Family: "Like that."
